Syngenta Trait Stewardship

A strong stewardship program is essential for protecting and preserving the long-term value of insect-protected trait technology. Syngenta provides responsible agriculture programs and information regarding the safe handling and storage of products.

Prior to planting Syngenta corn and soybean products, growers are required to sign a Syngenta Seeds, LLC Stewardship Agreement (Version US03, updated February 2021) (“Agreement”). The Agreement outlines the terms and conditions of growing Syngenta products, including the terms of a limited License under Syngenta’s intellectual property, compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-mandated Insect Resistance Management (IRM) programs and grain channeling requirements. The deadline to send the completed Agreement to Syngenta is June 30, annually.

The Agreement may be sent in using one of the following methods:

Products Requiring The Syngenta Seeds, LLC Stewardship Agreement

Growers planting Syngenta corn or soy products must sign a Syngenta Seeds, LLC Stewardship Agreement. Roundup Ready 2 Yield®, Roundup Ready 2 Xtend®, XtendFlex®, LibertyLink® and Enlist E3® soybeans sold through Syngenta also require a signed Agreement.

For Enlist E3® soybeans, additional provisions and information on best management practices to be followed, recommendations and guidelines are at  www.Enlist.com. Grower must follow all recommendations as set forth in the “Enlist Weed Control System Product Use Guide” of the corresponding correct year.

Grower agrees to follow herbicide resistance management (HRM) practices, such as pre-and post-application field scouting and reporting. Lack of herbicide efficacy must immediately be reported to Syngenta.

FAQs

Q:

What are my responsibilities in signing the Syngenta Seeds, LLC
Stewardship Agreement?

A:

By signing the Syngenta Seeds, LLC Stewardship Agreement (“Agreement”), you are given a limited License to buy and plant Syngenta field corn and soybean products. A full list of responsibilities required to maintain this License can be found on the Agreement. If you do not adhere to these responsibilities, you could lose access to these Syngenta field corn and soybean products. Your License is represented by a unique twelve-character License Number.

Q:

What is my License Number?

A:

License Numbers are generated upon the successful processing of completed Agreements by AgCelerate on behalf of Syngenta. License Numbers for Syngenta field corn and soybean products consist of eight digits followed by a four-character License version code. U503 is the current version code. License Numbers containing any other version code are considered "non-compliant." License Numbers can be found on AgCelerate at www.agcelerate.com.

Q:

How do I know if I have the most current Agreement and/or a valid License Number?

A:

The current version of the Agreement can be found on our website. It is recommended that you download a new copy of the Agreement at least once per year to ensure you have the most current version.

Q:

Do I need to sign a new Agreement every year?

A:

No, the Agreement is evergreen and only needs to be signed once. If a new requirement and/or trait is launched requiring a new Agreement and License version, you may need to sign a new Agreement. The current version of the Agreement can be found on our website. Currently, all compliance License Numbers end in the US03 version code.

Q:

How long does an Agreement take to be processed?

A:

Processing a physical or scanned Agreement generally takes 48-72 hours. However, during the peak summer months, it may take up to two to three weeks. By signing the Agreement online at www.agcelerate.com, you can obtain your License (and License Number) immediately upon completion. Please visit the site for more details.

Q:

How will I find my License Number?

A:

If signing online at www.agcelerate.com, growers can immediately view their License Number through their AgCelerate account. If a grower submits a physical or scanned copy of the Agreement, they can find their License Number by either creating an AgCelerate account or contacting their reseller or Syngenta. Resellers can view License Numbers generated from online signings or physical/scanned Agreements through AgCelerate. It is recommended that growers sign online whenever possible.

Q:

Are original copies of the Agreement required?

A:

No, original copies of the Agreement are not required. Legible scans or photos of completed Agreements are acceptable.

Q:

What is the difference between a Customer ID Number and a License Number?

A:

The Customer ID Number is a unique identifier that Syngenta uses internally to identify a particular grower or reseller. The License Number (also known as Technology Number or Stewardship Number) is the unique twelve-character number assigned to a grower after their Agreement has been successfully processed; the License Number represents the grower’s limited License to buy and plant Syngenta field corn and soybean products.

Q:

What is the difference between the US01, US02 and US03 License versions?

A:

Prior to 2009, all Licenses used the US01 version code. In 2009, Syngenta launched a new Agreement to incorporate the addition of Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans and Agrisure Viptera®, requiring the launch of the US02 License version. In 2013, Syngenta launched the Agrisure Duracade® trait, which required another update to the Agreement and the launch of the US03 License version. Since 2013, the US03 Agreement has been updated to include additional traits such as Roundup Ready 2 Xtend®, LibertyLink® and Enlist E3®. The current version of the Agreement is still US03.

Q:

Who do I contact if I have pest pressure?

A:

If you encounter pest pressure, contact your local agronomist or a Syngenta sales representative.
